The new Zeta Echos chiller range from Blue Box maintains all of the popular features of the Zeta 2002 range, while introducing greater functionality, higher performance and improved efficiency.

Developed for use with refrigerant R410A, these units offer greatly superior performance thanks to the near-total absence of temperature glide, improved heat exchange, low flow resistance on the suction side and more stable condensation and evaporation.

Zeta Echos incorporates a number of innovations from Blue Box, such as the hydronic module with built-in tank with pumps. This feature makes it possible to segregate the primary and secondary hydraulic circuits, thus improving energy performance at part loads and enabling the use of 2-way valves on the terminal units, rather than 3-way valves.

For units with only two compressors, Blue Box offers a variable set-point solution, based on outdoor air temperature, while the set point on 4-compressor units can be controlled via an external signal.

For applications where the hydronic module is not suitable, Blue Box offers an Adaptive Control Function as an alternative. While not offering the same precision as the hydronic module solution, this represents a perfectly acceptable compromise for many simple applications. Compared to other products on the market, this solution still offers a greatly improved COP, by imposing an increase of the inlet set point rather than a decrease in the outlet set point.

Zeta Echos models feature programmable microprocessor controls to supervise all functions of the unit. The system also manages a series of auxiliary safety and efficiency functions, keeping track of compressor suction and discharge pressures and gas temperature to prevent breakdowns.

The microprocessor also manages Blue Box’s patented reverse cycle defrosting system, which was a popular feature of earlier Zeta models. This innovative system reduces defrost times and the number of defrost cycles and increases the COP of the heat pump by 10% with respect to conventional solutions. Overall seasonal efficiency is also improved by maximising the use of free-cooling.
